Tubantia: ENSCHEDE - The first major gaming event for companies in Twente - Wirwar - has been cancelled. The organization has decided to move the event - which was to be held on October 9 - to the spring of 2021. The reason? The rapidly increasing number of corona infections in this region.
Business Gaming Twente is a new concept, which would be held for the first time in De Grolsch Veste on Friday 9 October. The idea is that companies and students compete against each other in a LAN party, a kind of old-fashioned game competition. Classics such as Counter Strike, FIFA and Mario Kart were on the program. You could also take a look at the world of virtual reality.
'Irresponsible'
The underlying idea is to make Twente companies more visible to students, who are not always familiar with the local market and who move (too) quickly to the Randstad after their education. Numerous Twente companies had already registered for the event.
Due to the rapidly increasing number, the tractor is off (for now). “This week there is another high rise, and we have to wait and see what it will be in the coming weeks. Despite the fact that we follow all corona measures and protocols, we cannot therefore keep it responsible," said organizer Jasper Ipskamp.
It is hoped to be able to organize the LAN party in the spring of 2021.
